Dessislava Pachamanova
Dessislava Pachamanova is a consultant to Continuum providing advice in the areas of optimisation, operations research and portfolio construction.
Dessislava is an assistant professor in the Mathematics and Sciences Division of Babson College, Boston. She holds an A.B. in Mathematics (magna cum laude) from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). While completing her Ph.D. studies at MIT, Dessislava worked for Goldman Sachs (New York, USA) and WestLB (Duesseldorf, Germany). She has also worked for Creditanstalt-Bankverein (Vienna, Austria), now part of BankAustria, and Bulbank(Sofia, Bulgaria), now part of the UniCredit Group, and continues consulting for companies as a professor at Babson.
Dessislava's research interests are in the areas of optimisation, simulation, and statistics, and their applications in finance, management, computing, and engineering. Her primary research area can be defined as the theory and practice of robust optimisation. Her secondary research areas include education, engineering and telecommunications, open source software (computer science and management) and simulation. She has published a number of articles in operations research, finance, and engineering journals, and recently co-authored the book Robust Portfolio Optimization and Management (The Frank J. Fabozzi Series in Finance, J. Wiley & Sons, 2007).
